Bhai Amrik Singh was the son of Bhai Dharam Singh Zakhmi, who was one of the greatest Ragis of the 20th Century. Bhai Amrik Singh spent many years learning Gurmat Sangeet from his father and uncle, Bhai Samsher Singh Zakhmi. During his father's lifetime, Bhai Amrik Singh provided vocal support and played the Dilruba with his Jatha. Bhai Sahib was one of the leading living exponents of Gurmat Sangeet in the world during his lifetime. He is survived by his son, Bhai Harjot Singh who is also a fine Kirtani and his brothers, Pal Singh on the Dilruba and Amritpal Singh on the Tabla. Bhai Amrik Singh Zakhmi passed away on 10th November 2013. He is said to have passed away due to a brain haemorrhage. The death of Bhai Amrik Singh Zakhmi came 8 months after his wife, Bibi Hardarshan Kaur, passed away due to ill health.
